On the set of the new Dario Argento movie Giallo, filming is complete and now its down to the slow painful process of scoring and editing the movie..

In the movie Inspector Enzo (Adrian Brody) teams up with a airline employee who's sister has been abducted by a serial killer going by the name of Giallo (Yellow).

Goblin's Claudio Simonetti is aboard to hopefully deliver a gripping score in the tradition of similar Argento's work.

Giallo is out early in 2009.

It seems the new version of Suspiria has been put back till 2010, Natalie Portman has been signed to star in the movie, but there will be no Dario Argento, or musical score by Goblin. Hopefully the movie will be cancelled completely, its difficult to mess with perfection, but without Argento's great eye and Goblins terrifying score how can thios really succeed.

In two and a half months Doctor Who returns in an episode titled The Next Doctor, starring David Tennant and David Morrisey as the Doctor; but could trouble be a foot here? Just in case you think Tennant's Doctor is going to be spending a peaceful Christmas Day, in the story he travels back to the 19th century where an army of Cybermen have arrived, for the first time in the shows history the Cybermen will appear in the past.

Filmed back in the early summer, mainly in and around Gloucester this years Christmas Special promises to be just great, and with no series during 2009, expect the Easter, August and Christmas Specials to be really "SPECIAL" as the BBC sink the 10 million pounds they spend on 13 episodes into just three, 2009 promises to have episodes as good as movies.

While in the US it was known as G.I. Joe in the UK we knew it as Action Force, and as a cartoon and comic it was fantastic. Now Director Stephen Summers is bringing G.I. Joe to the big screen with a cast to die for "Fantastic" oh you'll get that little pun further down; but its a long way off, scheduled for August 2009 below are some of the character publicity photos.

Sienna Miller = The Baroness Ray Park = Snake Eyes
Rachel Nichols = Scarlett  Dennis Quaid = General Hawk
Channing Tatum = Duke  Byung-Hun Lee = Storm Shadow with Scarlett
                                                 Marlon Wayans = Ripcord
                                    Christopher Ecclestone = Destro
                                                                   "FANTASTIC!!!"
                                     Said Taghmaoui = Breaker

Also joining in the fun are Arnold Voslo, Brendan Fraser, The Rock, Joseph Gordon- Levitt, and Jonathan Pryce. With such a cast this will surely be interesting viewing. I'll keep you posted on further progress.

It's not been a good week for Hollywood. The 26th of May saw the passing of Actor, Producer, and Director Sydney Pollack, after a long fight with cancer.

Although his list of movies that he starred in was short, each movie saw the actor stat with a Hollywood legend, never once appearing in a low budget movie. The actor  movies included Michael Clayton with George Clooney, Stanley Kubrick's last movie Eyes Wide Shut with Kidman and Cruise, The Player directed by Robert Altman and starring everyone from Tim Robbins, Cher, Karen Black, Anjelica Houston and Jeff Goldblume to name but a few; but is possibly best remembered starring alongside Dustin Hoffman in Tootsie.

As a director Pollack's movies included Tootsie, Out Of Africa, Absence Of Malice, and The Firm. While as a producer his name was associated with Breaking and Entering, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Dead Again, White Palace, and  Anthony Mingella's The Number One Ladies Detective Agency, Mingella who also died earlier this year.

The death took me by surprise as the day prior to Pollack's death I found myself watching Eyes Wide Shut, the review for this will be up in a few days.

Today the passing of Harvey Korman was announced, while Korman had been distant from the movie world his last involvement being the voice of Hapgood The Dragon in The Ruby Princess Runs Away; Korman had starred in astring of classic comedy movies including History Of The World: Part 1, Herbie Goes Bananas, High Anxiety, and Blazing Saddles.

Korman had apparently suffered a rupture some four months ago which due to a complication caused the actors death.

Its just a month before Hammer Studios (recently reformed) first feature Beyond The Rave is released on DVD.

Originally screened as a serial of sorts on Myspace this extended version is especially for home viewers.

The story follows a soldier called Ed who decides the night before flying out to Iraq to enjoy one final wild night. But during the night he loses his girlfriend when a violent group of party goers take her hostage. With army buddies in toe Ed must win back the wench before sunrise.

With Nora Jane-Noone and Jamie Dornan in the principal roles The Bill's Mark Wingett, Hammer Stalwart Ingrid Pitt, and Dracula's Sadie Frost in supporting roles. It's not the greatest movie, but it should do well if only for association with the Hammer brand.
